Why I’m Running For Treasurer

Grassroots in action! (I’m 2nd from right)

New Mexico is my refuge. This is where my wife and I have put down roots, and where we plan to stay. We moved to Albuquerque in late 2019 after 12 years in Tampa, Florida, because both the natural and political environments there had become too toxic. We chose to live in NM precisely because it is a diverse state run by Democrats. I am deeply committed to doing whatever I can to help keep our state the welcoming, compassionate, beautiful place that it is. I’m also deeply committed to helping every single New Mexican secure equal rights and equal opportunity so that they can thrive personally and professionally. Without question, sustained Democratic leadership is essential to making those things happen!

In the four years that I’ve been involved with the Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) and the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County (DPBC), I’ve had the pleasure to learn from, and work with, many talented, smart DPNM and DPBC leaders. I appreciate that I still have lots to learn, but I’m a quick study and I have excellent strategic, analytical, and management skills.

Working with DPNM officers and staff, the SCC and other DPNM committee members, elected Democrats, and candidates, I want to sharpen Party fundraising efforts to maximize DPNM’s impact in all 33 counties. My specific goals as Treasurer include: 1) transparent, meticulous stewardship of DPNM financial resources; 2) ensuring that our candidates have the resources needed to stand up and run robust campaigns; 3) expanding our fundraising base, to grow the budget; and 4) creating/maintaining supportive connections among all of the large and small “Blue Dots” (Democratic individuals and rural, suburban, and urban communities) across New Mexico.
