My First 90 Days As DPNM Treasurer…

The first 90 days of any new job are particularly precious. It is essential to quickly get an accurate, 360-degree view of the operating environment, as well as assets and liabilities (both human and financial).

As a leader, manager and colleague, I have always tried to be as ready as possible on Day 1 of a new job. In the run-up to the Party election and – if I’m elected – through the first several weeks on the job, I will more thoroughly ask questions of, listen to, and learn from people with several perspectives about the Treasurer’s role. This will give me a solid operating base to reinforce, create, leave alone, and/or cease tasks overseen by the Treasurer. Optimal sources of intelligence about the financial aspects of DPNM are incumbent officers, Budget & Finance Committee members, County and CD Chairs, SCC members and DPNM caucus and committee members.
